Missoula is BIG! It has been an interesting week. Yep, definitely an interesting week.

Alrighty, it's been an interesting week. Yep, definitely an interesting week.

So, Tuesday right after we emailed we headed to Missoula with our zone leaders. They drove us straight to our house and then unloaded their truck  and helped us unload our car and then they took off. We were left there all alone! We live with a really sweet old lady named Sister Landes. She is like 89 years old and she wanted some company, so she is letting us live in her basement. :) She is very sweet, and I love her very much. But we couldn't leave her house because we didn't know where the heck we were and we wouldn't be able to get back. So, we just stayed there with her for a while. After a few hours the Elders showed up at our house and they told us we were going to the church to meet with the Bishop. We followed them to the church, and the Bishop came in and it was the best thing ever! Because, his family lives in Lovell and I met him there. He told me when I was there that I was going to be serving in his ward. I told him that I wasn't and he gave me 6 months. Well, 6 months would've been over in 2 weeks. :P So, he totally predicted it! He also served his mission in New Zealand and he speaks Samoan and absolutely loves Sister Siilata. He said that he had been praying for great sisters and he was really happy that he got us. We went over the ward list and overloaded my brain and then we went home and went to bed.

The next day was zone training. We got to meet our whole zone, and it was great. Some of my favorite people in the world are serving here. Oh, also there are 15 Sisters in our zone! We are officially the biggest zone in the mission since so many of us are here after finding out about splitting the stake and what not. :) Yep, we spent the whole day there, then had to wait for a couple of Sisters who were coming to work with us, and they had a meeting. Their meeting went until 5 and then we went to dinner over at the Bishops, and that concluded our day.

Thursday morning was weekly planning, and we went through the ward list and made a bunch of appointments. We had only 1 open slot and the Elders called and gave us another appointment that they weren't going to be able to make. YES!  A full day! :) We just ran around to appointments and then the day was over and it was good. We met one of our investigators with a baptismal date that night. Her name is Brenda, and she has high functioning down syndrome. The Elders put her on date and she really wants to be baptized. But, I don't really know if she needs to be baptized. I mean if she wants to be I don't see why not. She is really really sweet though, and I just love her a lot. We talked about the priesthood, and she asked for a blessing so that she could stop having bad dreams. :) So, we made an appointment for the next day.

Friday was another busy day. We ran around and visited with people from the ward list. There was a family that we kept calling and they never answered their phone, and so we just stopped by their house. They were home and let us in. They used to live in American Fork, and they know all about Lehi. It was great! They have like 26+ guitars and it was awesome!!!!!! They are great and we are excited to start working with them. Oh, their names are the Holmans. We had a ward party that night, and we invited Brenda to it. our relief society president went over and she picked her up for us. She liked the party and drew us both pictures. We got to meet a bunch of kids and hang out with them, and also a bunch of adults and talk with them. It was just really good to get to know the ward. Brenda was able to meet with the Bishop and get a blessing and she really liked that. She is just so sincere, and I love it!

Saturday morning there was a stake relief society conference. It went from 9:30 to about 2:00. It was waay fun and there was all of the other Sisters there. :) It was interesting since I didn't know who was in my ward I was just trying to talk to everybody. Literally I didn't talk to anybody in our own ward except for those I knew because I just couldn't find any. :P We did a bunch of service projects and Sister Siilata and I got to sew blankets. :) Then, we went home so that Sister Siilata could do her language study since she had missed out on it for most of the week. We had an appointment with the Elders to go and visit a potential investigator and have dinner for them. Her son was recent convert who wants to go on a mission and she promised Elder McLeod (Mc, Cloud.) ( our zone leader.) That she would make him dinner, and so he invited us since she was in our area. We invited her to take the lssons and she said yes. We are going to have to work around scheduling stuff since her schedule is crazy! Pretty exciting! We were going to go to a baptism, but then it ran over and we weren't able to go. But, we met with the bishop instead and we talked with him about the ward list again.

Sunday morning church started at 9. It was great, we got to go and it was a missionary farewell, so there were loads of people. Brenda came to church and everybody talked to her and made her feel welcome, which was really good. :) We were taking the sacrament, and I read Helaman 5. It was a perfect chapter since I have been really stressed out and haven't known where I was and everything like that. I have been really scared of everything here. I don't want to tract because I hate tracting, and it's scary. But, I read in Helaman 5 and it's all about Nephi and Lehi in prison and people come to kill them, but then everything goes dark, and Nephi and Lehi are surrounded by a light and angels and stuff. Then they hear the Holy Ghost inviting them to repent and be better. So someone points out that all they have to do is repent, and vs. 34 says. "And it came to pass that the Lamanites could not flee because of the cloud of darkness which did overshadow them; yea, and also they were immovable because of the fear which did come upon them.:"  They weren't immovable because of darkness, they were immovable because of fear! I realized that I couldn't be scared because I was stopping my own progress. So, I decided not to be scared anymore and we went tracting. We met an awesome lady named Laurie and she let us in. She didn't say we could teach her, but she did seem pretty stoked about service! :) We had a really great discussion with her and it was great. Last night we met with our new ward mission leader, he was just called yesterday! He is pretty excited about sharing the gospel and about his calling, and we are all really pumped about him too. Things are gonna be great! He is going to do the Perry plan with the ward which makes him really excited! Ha ha things are going to be great here. The work is moving forward crazy fast!

With as hard as this week has been, I have loved it soo much! I truly love MIssoula and the people here are so great. It is weird to be in a big city again...I feel very lost all the time. It took us like an hour to find coldstone! But we found it, so that's good! :) Well, I love you all very much and I miss you all. I hope that you are having a great week! LOVES!
-Sister Malynne Erbe

p.s. I called Uncle Frog, and we might go out to lunch today. :)

Conversation with mom. Scott King, Ryan Ditty.

Malynne:  Hey mom!

Mom:  Hi girl.  Sorry for no letter.

Malynne:  It's okay! How are you?

Mom:  I am doing OK.  I have had better days.  Can't say what is wrong because nothing is wrong, just not happy.  Nudd is coming over.  Not sure why.

Malynne:  I love her! :) Is she coming over tonight? Did you love Scott?!

Mom:  She is coming over right now.  Scott....WOW can he down the Sushi!!!!!!  When just your dad and I go out for Sushi we can eat 5 or 6 rolls.  He seriously ate 12 or more by himself.  He told us a little about his life....again....WOW!  He did not sound hopeful about joining the church.  He said that he has things he needs to take care of and he doesn't see that happening.  We sent a package to you with him.  He said he will deliver it to Missoula himself.

Malynne:  Yay! He will join. His wife moved to Hamilton because she said that she felt that it was an answer to her prayer. She has been praying for Scott to join the church, and she knows that he will be able to be baptized and enjoy the blessings of the gospel in Hamilton. He will be baptized because of his wifes faith. If for nothing else.

Malynne:   Hey, are you still there?

Mom:  yes

Malynne:  Oh good. Why are you not so happy today?

Mom:  I wish I could tell you why.  What are your thoughts on Scott?  Do you think he will ever be baptized?

Malynne:  Yes. :) I know he will be baptized, it will just be a process. He thinks that he does lots of bad stuff like drinking and smoking and stuff and his wife was telling us that he only smokes when he is stressed and he drinks because he thinks it's fun but then gets bored. She doesn't think it will be that big of a deal to give it up, and he is reading the Book of Mormon. He was almost baptized before, but I think that the Elders made a pretty big mistake and really hurt him a lot and he needs loads of love and fellowship before he will be ready. But yes, I know that someday because of his wifes faith, and my faith, and all of the other missionaries faith that he will be baptized. :)

Mom:  He did tell us about the missionaries that just stopped comming.  He said that he almost got baptized then, but they didn't show up.  He was still angry about that.  What do you think about his wife supporting the family?  He did not seem to have much gumption to work.  Am I wrong?  And he was getting more tatoos while he was here. He told us that they cost a is his wife paying for these and is she aware?  I am sure you are getting upset reading this.  We liked the guy, we just see with our worldly eyes and you see only with your spiritual heart.

Malynne:  I know that the missionaries made mistakes. I know lots of us do because we are just kids sometimes. But, I do know that he was getting his tattoos, and no his wife isn't paying for them. He has some friends who will do it, and he just getting some of the ones that he didn't finish, done. I am not upset ha ha, I just know him and I know that he is awesome! His wife is supporting the family, and I don't know if he will work because he stays home and takes care of Cambree and Seqori. He used to be the one to support them until they moved to Montana because she found a job and moved their whole family up. She really likes working, so yep. :) Ha ha, Scott is funny because he sees himself so differently than other people see him. He can't see himself as a member because he has these little hold-ups, and he can't see himself progress because he holds himself back. I don't know I just love him a lot!

Mom:  I can tell you love him a lot and I can see why.  He is a very likeable person.  Tell me about Missoula.  Have you talked to Uncle Frog yet?  Do you want to see a picture of Grandma?  We were with her yesterday.

Malynne:  MIssoula is great. :) It was really stressful, and still can be since it is like ginornous!!!! I feel like I am in...well I don't know where I feel like I'm in, but it's not Montana! :P it's huge here. Oh, yes, I did talk to Uncle frog. :) We might go out to lunch today, I don't know it might have to wait until next week. I do want to see a picture of grandma! :)
OH, I heard from Ryan today! :)

Mom:  What did Ryan say?  I miss seeing him!  I am sending you a picture of Grandma Alma.  I just sent it to you.  Let me know when you get it.

Malynne:  I got it. It doesn't even look like her.   hmmm. I miss her, but I hope that she goes soon. It's just another step, and I know she'll be okay. I will send you Ryans email. :)

Makayla:  Malynne, Malynne, My most amazingful Malynne!! This is Kayla. :)

Malynne:  Hey Kayla! Are you just going by Kayla now? What the heck?

Makayla:  No, that is just what I said this time.  I am always Makayla.

Mom:  So what do you think is going on with Ryan?  I am worried about you two when you come home.

Malynne:  Why? I don't know what's going on with him. Mom, that is honestly the most upbeat happy email I have gotten from him. I don't know about a mission, and I just don't care anymore. I was worried about that for a really long time, but I have just been worried about him as a person lately. Why are you worried about us?

Mom:  I love Ryan.  I love you and Ryan.  I love the person you are when you are with Ryan.  But I want you to be with someone that is worthy of YOU.....I don't know if anyone will be worthy of you.
I know what you mean about Grandma.  I pray that she will just die in her sleep.  No pain, no more dragging it on....just quietly go home.  She doesn't like her physical body right now.....I know she doesn't.  She has always served others and never wanted to be a burden on anyone.  I know that she is still learning and growing, even in the state that she is in, and maybe she is here to teach others to serve.  All I really know is that she is a wonderful lady and I love her!!!!

Malynne:  Hey, I have like 60 seconds left on this computer, so i am going to have to jump off. I love you!!!!

Letter from Ryan Ditty

My dearest Malynnetoes.
I love you! I have been thinking about you like alllllll day today. And yesterday. And the day before.
So I decided to email you :)
Again, I'm ridiculous haha and I feel silly bothering you with the silly trivial details of my life.
But I don't want you to worry about me so I thought I'd send you an email :)
Things are pretty much the same as the last time I emailed you, not much has changed at all.
I feel like I have changed, though. For the better, I think too. Which is always good :) So many experiences and things have happened that have helped me become a better person. I've had my fair share of crappy stuff too but that's all part of the deal right? Like it says in Ether 12:27. "And if men come unto me I will show me unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then I will make weak things become strong unto them."
I feel like I've had the opportunity to grow a lot from the things that have happened :) I'm really excited for you to come home so that our friendship can be even better because I've grown a lot, and you have too, and we'll just be one awesome better unit of friendship! Haha. But for reals tho.
Also, I love reading your emails every week. I love how detailed they are it makes me happy :)

Anyway. That concludes this email of randomness :)

Conversation with mom. Transferring to Missoula. Temple!!! Exciting Stuff!

Malynne:  Hey, are you there? I have to tell you something crazy!!!! :)

Mom:  I am here going home.  Give me five min.

Malynne:  Okay, mom your brain will explode so hurry!!! :)

Mom:  Home.

Malynne:  You ready for this?

Sent a picture of my new ring from Lowell

Malynne:  OOh, that's pretty! :)

Mom:  Waiting!!!  Do you like my new wedding ring?  Dad bought it for me.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

Malynne:  I love it! :) I should send you a picture of my new watch. I love it! Anyway...I am getting transferred! I am taking my companion with me! We are going to Missoula! :)

Mom:  Is that what is making my head explode?  I actually got a text from Lucy this morning.  She said that you were being transferred to Missoula, so I knew that, I did not know that your companion is going with you.  How do you feel about this?  I have to go pick up Connor, so hurry and right back.  If I don't respond, give me another 5 minutes.

Malynne:  Well, they are going to build a temple in Missoula, and that's why i'm going there. :)

Mom:  When?  How did you find out?  What will you be doing?  Construction?

Malynne:  :) President Mecham had a huge meeting with all the missionaries in Missoula (this did not include me, because I am here right at this moment.) He told then that they were 130 baptisms away from splitting the stake and building a temple. If they worked hard enough they would announce it in April, and that they would start work in 2015. Then they said they were putting 2 sets of missionaries in each ward. Well, there is us and a set of Elders in Missoula 1st ward. President Mecham called us and talked to us this morning, and told us all about it and then told us that he prayed and chose the missionaries that he trusted the most to send there. So, I don't know if we are like the most trustworthy or what makes us so special, but we get to be a part of it, and I am totally stoked!

Mom:  Malynne, that is so cool.  It brought tears to my eyes AGAIN!!!  You are going to be a part of getting that area ready for their temple.  How COOL is that.  Again, I can only say how proud of you I am...that you are doing what you are suppose to be doing.  Are you going to write a big letter, or should I use this last little bit and send it on as your weekly letter?  Last night my phone rang off the hook asking where your letter was!  Have you been able to contact Uncle Frog?  Are you going to do it?  Grandma is hounding me to know if you are planning on moving into her basement apartment.  I told her it is 6 months away and that you are not even thinking about that right now, but she wants to know.  She still wants to charge $600 a month, and I told her there was no way that you would afford that, that at the least you would need to find roommates.

Malynne:  yes, I am sending out a big letter. I just got permission to call Uncle frog. I am planning on moving into her basement...but there is no way I can afford that, and Sister Jones doesn't get off of her mission until December and she was going to be one of my roommates.  Oh, hey, Scott King is coming down to Lehi this weekend and he says that if there is anything that you want to send up with him he is more than happy to bring it up to me, even if I'm in Missoula.

Mom:  Should I tell her you want to move in in January and to rent it out until then?

Malynne:  Yeah, that sounds great. :) That would give me some time to find a job and some money and some roommates.
I will give you his number 406-360-1787. :)

Mom:  when is he coming?

Malynne:  This weekend, and I think he'll be there for a week.

Mom:  Since you are in Missoula maybe you can contact Uncle Frog and send some stuff home with him.  He is coming to visit Grandma Alma for her birthday in April!!!!  Good idea!!!!

Malynne:  yes! That is a great idea!!!! I want to send lots of stuff home! Well, I have to go through it and figure out what I do and what I don't want.
Hey mom, we are heading up to Missoula in like 5 minutes. I love you very much, and I will talk to you next week! :) I love you!!!!

Mom: Address!!!!  Please!!!!

Siitia! It means transfer in Samoan. We are going to Missoula

So, this week was a really good week, we finally had some good progress going with people and lots of appointments. We were seriously running around really crazy We went on exchanges and had some really good appointments.

Last Monday we had our preparation day and then we went out and went to dinner, and then we saw some less actives that are awesome. Then we both felt like we should see Barbra one of our investigators. We went over to her house, and no one had shoveled her driveway. So, we borrowed shovels and shoveled it, but we stopped to talk for a while, and it was good.

On Tuesday we had our district meeting, and then we went out and we taught. Honestly I really don't remember much of tuesday except that we went out to institute that night. We went with a young woman that the bishop asked us to work with.

On Wednesday, sister Siilata got the flu. She was sick and dizzy and she just didn't feel good at all. So, we decided to stay in. We literally spent the whole day inside and called a bunch of people and set up a bunch of appointments.

Thursday was our weekly planning day, and then we had some service. Every week we do service at a secondhand store called little britches. The lady who owns it is a non-member and she just needed some help. We went over and we helped her rearrange some things and it just crazier and crazier. So, we offered to come over the next day and to help her since we had to go to dinner that night.

On Friday we were on exchanges so we had sister Moline with us. It was so weird when people were like "Hey Sister Moline!" and I was like "What?" Ha ha. We had soo many appointments and we were running around. then we got a call from Sister Praast who told me that she had something for me. We ran over to her house in between appointments and she had a boquet of flowers for me! :) SOO sweet! They were from my family, but still. :) We ran around the rest of the day, going to appointments and then Sister Moline went home, and we went to bed.

Saturday we had tons of appointments too. We were running around inviting people to stake conference and nobody really said that they were coming for sure. That night we had an appointment with the kings. They are the best, and they made us curry! :) Then we had a lesson with them, and talked to Scott about taking the lessons officially. He declined for now, but he isn't opposed to spiritual thoughts. So, we set up another appointment with them for Wednesday and then we headed to stake conference. Unfortunately we were 45 minutes late to stake conference because of our appointment. We told our bishop and ward mission leader and zone leaders we would be late. Unfortunately we didn't know that all the missionaries were asked to sit on the stand!!!!!! We had to walk up in front of everyone 45 minutes late. The whole meeting was about missionary work, and here come the Sisters Waltzing in late....Yeah I was pretty embarassed. Which I shouldn't have been because teaching was waaaay more important than being to conference on time. I just didn't like everyone looking at me.

Sunday morning we had interviews with president Mecham. He is so great, but he really intimidates me. So, we started talking, and he started teasing me, and saying "You're really scared of me aren't you?" The answer is yes, but I was like "No, you're scared of me." He cracked up and I felt like a total dork! It was a good interview though. Stake conference was really good, it was all about the sacrament and stuff like that, which was good. :) After church, we had a dinner appointment, and then a less active appointment, and we were fed dinner at both places. I felt like I was going to explode!

Monday was yesterday, and we had Preparation day, but it was like Presidents day or something stupid like that, so we didn't get to email! I slept. :) yay naps! We went out that night and had dinner with a family, then we had an appointment with an investigator. His name is Eddie, and he is just soo close to being baptized. The only thing holding him back is that he is not divorced so he can't marry the member that he is living with. He doesn't want to just move out, get baptized and then move back in because that would be lying. So for now, he is reading, and coming to church, and working on the divorce. He is soo great! They fed us a second dinner, and we shared a message and then left. We went to a less actives house, and she fed us a third dinner, and then we went home. We were running a little late, and didn't think anything of it. until we pulled up and found out the zone leaders were waiting outside our house.....oops. They were like "Why didn't you answer you phone?" We searched for it, and found out it was inside. They were like "Okay, just as long as you weren't ignoring us." What?! Why would I ignore them? They are so silly! Well, they told us that we were being transferred. SURPRISE! We are going to Missoula together. We are staying companions and stuff, but we are just not going to be here in Hamilton. there will actually be 2 sets of missionaries in the ward. Reason? Well, President Mecham called and told us this morning that they are like 130 baptisms away from splitting the stake, and building a temple. :D Yep, so I get to be a part of it all!!!!!!! They think the temple will be announced in April, and then it will be built in 2015. :)

Yep, pretty exciting stuff. I am leaving actually in like 20 minutes, so we gotta go soon. I love you all very much though! I hope that you have an awesome week! LOVES!

Conversation with mom. Hamilton, Montana

Mom:  I am at home sick.  i hope that being home means that we will get to chat and that you will send me some pictures to remind me of what you look like.  Missing you lots and lots.

Malynne:  Hey mom, I am here right now! :) How are you doing?

Mom:  Malynne, I am so happy that maybe we will get to talk for a minute or two.  I am not feeling great today, but talking to you make me feel better.  Are you sending pictures today?  Did you get your package?

Malynne:  I do have some pictures. :) I did get the package, I am sending you an email telling you all about it. ha ha :P

Malynne then responded to the letter that I sent her.  Here is her response letter to my letter and my letter.

Malynne:  So, funny story, your handwriting and mine look super similar sometimes. :) So, maybe I did write that, but I don't remember ever writing it either...maybe it did fall from the sky. Or, maybe I don't remember because I don't remember loads of stuff ha ha. Well, I am sorry your week was hard. Mine was pretty hard too. Sounds like yours was waaay harder though! Oh man, The Nelsons are getting divorced!!! What the heck happened!!!! :( I would've never seen that one comin' in a million years! I am so glad that you had that experience at the temple though! :) I miss going to the temple. I can't wait to be able to go whenever I want to again! I am very proud of you mom!!! Ha ha! I am so glad that you have relationships with the Elders, Elders are soo much fun! :) Also many of them are incredibly good looking. There's just something' about missionaries! I wished that missionaries would be a part of our family after talking with Sister Jones and hearing all of her stories with the Sisters. I am so glad that the missionaries come over. I am also glad that my siblings get to interact with them. :) They are just normal people and sometimes people forget that. :P I might write them both a letter and thank them...would that be weird? Yeah probably...don't know if I will, but I might. :P When are transfers? I can't write them a letter and then they get transferred! Um...maybe I just won't. I am putting way too much thought into this!!
...Okay anyway! I did get the package and I loved it! :) I wasn't sure if it was valentines day or my year mark, but I was happy about it. I loved all of the clothes soo much! Thank you soo much. Oh, also I shared with Sister Siilata and she loved them too. I kept the pink shirt instead of the white lacey shirt. She also have the yellow sweater. I gave her the black and white sleeved should see my poor samoan companion in the snow! I love the skirt and the blazer and the white shirt. Except guess what happened!!!! Oh man, I wore the white shirt yesterday and I loved it, then I washed it and went to wear it again today and it was dyed yellow!!!! It looks like it is supposed to be yellow, but it was white and now it is not white and I was not very happy about it. It's still cute and I love it a lot! Soo many compliments on the skirt! So great!  I didn't get to eat the curry yet, I get to eat it on Friday. :) I am soo stoked!

So, this is why my week was hard. I hit my year mark. I am coming home in 6 months and I am not the person I want to be yet. I wanted to come on a mission and lose a bunch of weight (this is a really big struggle for me right now) and read all of these scriptures and then be this awesome beautiful spiritual giant, but I don't feel like I have accomplished what I wanted to. I was looking back on my mission and thinking about when I was the happiest on my mission, and it was when I was walking everywhere and losing weight and feeling good, and excercising everyday and eating well. I want to feel like that again. I am on a diet right now, but I am not doing super good at it. I planned out all my meals for the month of February, but people keep trying to give me cookies and stuff and trying to feed me and I don't want to offend anyone. We are living with a sister who will yell at us if we move or do anything before 7. Housing situation got better as far as hot water, but the lady we live with is kind of mean sometimes. So, anyway I just want to be thin when I get home, and I am struggling a lot with the fact that I gained 5 more pounds and I am heavier than I have ever been in my life. Yep....that's why this week was hard for me. Advice on diet and excercise to help me lose 50 to 60 lbs in 6 months? I can't use any workout equipment at all except a jumprope and I just bought one today.

Dear Malynne,
I was doing laundry, had all the baskets spread out on my bedroom floor and I saw this piece of paper that said, "2 nephi 31:20 (heart) Malynne".  It looked like it was my handwriting, but I have no memory of writing it.  It literally fell from the sky and reminded me of what a beautiful girl you are.

This week has been hard!!!!  We went from doing 5 food orders to doing 9 food orders, Karen Ashman's father passed away suddenly, took Sienna to the temple (beautiful experience I will tell you more of it later), and am trying to comfort Caroline Nelson as her husband bomb shelled that he wants a divorce.  It has been a tough week, but the spirit has been strong and I have had the strength to do what needs to be done.

So....I took Sienna Stothers to the temple to sit in the waiting room and just feel the spirit.  You know how the spirit can slap you in the face as soon as you walk in?  I wanted Sienna to feel the spirit and have a desire to attend the temple.  While there she told me that she doesn't want to go to the temple because it is for married people.  I said a silent prayer and then said, "let's count how many women come by themselves vs. how many come with their husbands."  It was a miracle.  The next 20-30 people to walk through the door were single women (without a companion).  Sienna started to cry.  We talked about how temple covenants are not between a man and his wife (except the sealing ordinance, but even that one has covenants you make between you and god), but between you/an individual and God.  I told her that you can't follow your husband to heaven, you have to walk your own footsteps, make your own covenants.  She committed to pay her tithing, and we talked about her setting a date to attend.  She wants to go to more temples and sit in the waiting room!!!  We are going to schedule another one on the 18th.

You would be so proud of your family.  We are missionaries, doing missionary work.  The full time Elders LOVE to come to our home and hang out between visits (I think they are really wanting to get a ride and we oblige).  They are Elder Vanaukauku (something like that) from Texas - he is Tongan, and Elder Polima from Samoa.  Elder V is dang good looking.  You would be tripping in your shoes.  He goes home at the end of March, but is planning on returning to Utah to go to BYU.  He has asked about you, where you are serving, when you get home, if you are as crazy as the rest of your siblings etc. He has also told dad that he loves our fun, crazy family.  Elder Polima is also a good looking man, but not beautiful like Elder V. BUT, Elder Polima is hesterical!  He is so fun.  The kids love that the missionaries like coming to our home.  I do as well.

Did you get the package?  did the clothes fit?  Do you like them? Did you share?  Did you get to eat Curry yet?

I need to go, we are having our Olympics opening ceremony party tonight and I am working the kids like dogs.  I think maybe I should go help.
I love you.
Congratulations on your one year mark!  Yesterday everywhere I went I said, "My daughter has been on her mission for one year today!" Some people loved it and some people, like the bank clerk, didn't really care.
Please take care.  Let me know if you need any little thing.
Love, MOM

Mom:  Which white shirt?  Maybe I can send you another one.  Which brand, lace/no lace long sleeve????  Tell me.

Malynne:  It is the white one with the blue flowers all over it.

Mom:  Is it from the Gap?

Malynne:  Yep, it's Gap. :)

Mom:  Looking for it now.

Mom:  Malynne, write the Elders a letter today!!!  Elder Vatanuku goes home in March, so I think he his here until he leaves.  Elder Polima????I don't know how long he will be here.  You should write them a letter.

The Nelsons,  as Sister Nelson would say, "This is what happens when you don't nurture your marriage.  When all the kids leave and there is nothing there, you learn what you should have done."  I don't like using peoples unfortunate circumstances as examples, but if anything good is to come of this is that other people start valuing their marriages, and follow the prophet....Friday night date night, couples prayer, etc.

About loosing weight.  Work out!  Park far away from the front of stores, only use stairs, no elevators, and use that jumprope.  I had a friend in high school that jumproped everyday and lost about 70 lbs over 5 months.  Also, Summer is coming and you will get your bike back, right?  Go the long way to all your appointments.  When you get home we will work out together.

Malynne:  Yeah, I just want to be thin!!!! I am going to use the jumprope for sure! I know that Sister Siilata is down for this, but we are going to wake up early and come to the church and work out. It will just be hard if she is transferred and then I have to figure out if a new companion would be willing to sacrifice just 15 minutes of sleep to come and work out for an hour with me. I really hope neither of us get transferred. We have 3 weeks so it's not tons to worry about yet.

Hey, how exactly do you spell the Elders names? I don't want to write them a letter and feel like a loser for spelling their names wrong. :P

Mom:  Elder V and Elder P

Malynne: Thanks mom. :P But seriously is it in like the ward bulletin or something? Are they on facebook? Can you call them and ask them without being weird and saying "My daughter is going to write you a letter?" Oh, by the way, I love the shirt and the color. :) I am going to try to get out the yellow and make it white again. It doesn't look super bad yellow actually. But some spots are darker than others.

Hey, I gotta go really soon, but do you know their names? How to spell them?

Mom:  Elder Va'enuku and Elder Poulima.  Also, I got another white/blue flower shirt in a tall size, but I think it will work.  Still work on getting the yellow out of the one you have.  I want more pictures!@!!!!!

Malynne:  K, I wrote it down. :) I am soo excited for a white shirt! I love this shirt a lot!  Oh, also Sister Siilata wants to know what part of Samoa Elder Poulima is from.

Mom:  Also, you meet Lucy Anderson's mom?

Malynne:  Yep, she is awesome!!!! :) She gave me a bunch of bananas :)

Mom:  Hey, so, what if I write a letter to the lady that you live with and just say thank you for taking care of my daughter and maybe send her a GC?  Do you think she would be nicer to you?  Maybe smile at your?  Be sure and take a picture of will want one in your blog book.

Malynne:  Sure you can try, I don't know how much good it will do. :P But yeah, I will get one before we move out. We are moving out of her house in March.

Mom:  What is her name?

Malynne:  Sister Wilson.  Thanks mom.

Mom:  Are you still there?  I just want to say that I love you!  You are doing good and look so happy.  I love you.

Malynne:  I am pretty happy. :) Thanks mom, I do have to go, but I love you too!

Mom:  Loves.  Stay safe until next week.  Loves.  Loves.  Loves.  Loves.....

What Malynne looks like to Sister Siilata.

Sister Siilata made this picture as a representation of me. It's a heart with huge eyes and huge smile and really curly hair.

Sister Erbe and Sister Siilata meet the snow in Hamilton, Montana.

Snow in Hamilton, Montana

One year, Snow, 3 pointer, Snow, Lost keys, Lost phone, Faith, Snow, Sushi, and more Snow!!!

February 6th 2013. I woke up and loaded my suit cases in the car. Right before we left Chris Moore pulled up and said goodbye. He was the last person other than my family that I saw from Lehi. We drove to Provo and went to Mimi's cafe. I ate eggs and some pancakes, and there was another family sitting across from us with a boy in a suit. He was going to somewhere in South America. Then we drove further down and took a family picture in front of the temple. We drove to the drop off and I hugged my family and then walked with my suit cases and an Elder I didn't know into the MTC. They pinned my nametag on me, and showed me where my room was, then led me to a room where there were 11 complete strangers. My companion I found out was named Sister Holbrook, and she was from Fresno California. Our teachers Brother Welsh, and Brother Hales were sitting in there and they told us some of the rules and then we launched right into it. That is what I did the first day out.
February 6th 2014. I woke up and made my bed. It was snowing outside. We got up and got our snow shovels and went down the street shoveling people out. we did our studies, had lunch, and went to visit some people. We almost got stuck in the snow a few times. We spent a lot of that day doing service and got to watch the high school choir concert that night. Then I came home and laid on my bed and looked at the pictures on my wall taken exactly a year earlier. That was what I did on my year mark.

Hmm...I feel funny. I just can't believe that I have been out a year! Yep. Nothing has really changed. This week was basically the same as every other week...well no, not really every week is different, but I mean I was doing the same kind of stuff. :) Not gonna lie though, it takes special kinds of people to serve in Montana, and put up with -8 all day! We shoveled tons of snow this week, and I wish that I could say that I was sore...but I'm not. :P

So, last Monday we played a crazy game of basketball! Sister Erbe got the ball....and won the game with a 3 point shot!!!! :D I don't even know how it happened because I just kind of chucked it....but I won the game, so that's exciting! :) We had dinner at this super cute little cafe called the coffee cup. When we come back we will totally go because it's just so great! We came outside and it was like -12 and my companion was soo cold she couldn't get warm. So, we ended up going home and making some phone calls. She put on soo many clothes it was pretty funny!

Tuesday we went out and shoveled lots of snow. We always shovel out the neighbors up the street, and so, we spent a couple of hours doing that. then we went and we visited with the Scotts who are reactivated now. We went and got to talk with them. Brother Scott has been pretty sick. Last week he finally called and said "I can't handle it, I need a blessing." So, we called the Elders and (since they technically live in their area right now) and they went over and gave him a blessing. So, when I got to go and meet with them, he talked to us about it. We had a seriously awesome discussion on faith. I am working on that right now. Especially since our mission president asked us that questoin "Do you have faith to raise the dead?" I am pretty sure that will haunt me for the rest of my mortal existence! I have faith in  Jesus Christ, I just don't know if he would back me up if I commanded someone to come back from the dead. Not that he couldn't do it, but just that I wouldn't know if that's what he wanted me to do, or if I were just doing it because I want to. I guess I have troubles with knowing whether my will is in line with Gods sometimes, and if my thoughts are his thoughts, or it's just something that I want to do because that's what I want to do ya know? So, I am working on finding that balance and having enough faith to know that as long as my desire is righteous that he will back me up. That's what our discussion was on :P Anyway. After that we went and visited with a less active woman names Violet Cox. She let me use her piano to sing a hymn for her. :) After her we went over to a part member family and invited them to read the Book of Mormon. They are crazy busy and we have only ever been able to catch them once. So, we will keep trying and hopefully they will be interested in learning more. :) Then we went to our dinner appointment and had an awesome lesson. Halfway through though a less active and investigator from the Corvallis area came over. Their names are Jen and Tariq and they used to live in the Hamilton ward, but they moved over to Corvallis. It was kind of crazy, but we got to share a really awesome lesson about the atonement with Jen since Tariq left because of some crazy family drama. Anyway, it was a really really awesome lesson, and I loved it. We set up an appointment to teach them later tonight, but the Elders from Corvallis have to come to and try and put him on date to be baptized. :) Then we were going home, and realized we lost our housekey. Oh man I cried! The lady we live with can be difficult sometimes and I knew she was going to be really mad at us...more specifically me since it was in my pocket. We looked for it, but couldn't find it. I was really really upset and she was really really upset at me. I cried a lot.

Wednesday morning we had to leave at 7 to go and switch our car with the Elders so that they could take it to Missoula to go and get an oil change and a tire rotation done for us. We left a note on the front door asking her not to lock us out if she left for work before we got home. We switched the car and then we headed home and it was locked. We were both still in our pajamas and freaking out because we couldn't get back in. Luckily she was still there, but she was really mad that we had asked her not to lock us out. I cried more. I didn't know what else I could do except apologize for my mistake. We figured out that we could go through the back and lock ourselves out and then we wouldn't be able to get back in until she got home at night. We then found out we lost our phone. Yep I was pretty sure my life was over. It was just really bad. It sounds super dumb, but I was really upset since it had been my fault that both of these things had gone missing. Also, believe it or not mom, I am pretty organized now. I never have clothes on the floor and everything is picked up and I don't know when or how everything changed, it just did. So the fact that I knew where everything was except for 2 of the most important things was really really frustrating. So, I prayed. Honestly I don't know how much faith actually went into the prayer to find the key because I was so sure that we wouldn't find it. It was actually mostly a prayer that I would not be so sad. As soon as I finished praying I looked at my ipad and had a message from the Elders telling us that they found our phone in the car and that they would be back with it at 1:45 which is a lot sooner than we thought that they would be. Then, I found a random silver key in a box when I was looking at the ensigns, it just kind of fell out. I tried it on the door, and it worked!!!!! So we had a key and we didn't have to worry so much about finding the other key because now we could just go and get a copy made! Yep, sometimes even when we don't excercise the faith that we need to God answers our prayers just to show us that he loves us and he is aware that we are worried about things. He really does take care of everything! Even stupid lost keys, and stupid lost phones. :) We did look for the original key like we promised but never found it...maybe in the spring when all the snow melts some little kid will have a new key to pretend that they are opening doors with.

Thursday was my year mark and I already told you about it. :)

Friday we had an appointment with a less active named Ruth. :) Last week when we were there we were talking about food that we like, and I was like "Oh man, I love sushi!" sister Siilata was like "Me too!" Then we talked about mexican food. :P But Friday when we went over there, Sister Cook pulled out a $30 gift certificate to the sushi place!!!!! I almost died! it was soo great! :) Made my whole life to be honest with you. It was one of the sweetest things that has ever happened! We were at her house for a while actually and it was pretty awesome. Then, we went over to our investigators house. Her name is Betty Swift and she would totally get baptized except for that her daughter isn't a member and her son is and she doesn't want to make them feel like she is choosing sides. It is pretty sad, and I hope that we can help her to see how much she needs the gospel in its fulness. We are goign to have bible study with her, and go through the new testament and talk about Christ, which is going to be good for all of us. :) Then, we had dinner, and then tried a bunch of people and went home.

Saturday was really slow. We had no appointments and no one was letting us in. We had several discussions with people out on their porches, but no luck with getting in. We were looking for some referrals and I got totally stuck in the snow, and Sister Siilata had to push us out...Yep that was embarassing. :P We decided to come to the church and do our online proselyting. We spent about 45 minutes on facebook and then we left. We had left our phone in the car and there was a few missed calls on it from a number we didn't recognize. Sister Praast called and said that she had something for us and was sondering if we could come over. She was totally in the other ward...and I totally didn't care because I knew that her daughter was from Lehi and knows Makenna and Makayla! :) So, we went over there, and she was soo sweet, and gave us a basket full of stuff for valentines day. :) We shared a message with her and it was such an awesome visit, and gave me a boost that I needed! We had dinner at Subway with Sister Leiter and her daughter sister Cook. :) Yep same Sister cook. It was great, and we had a really good discussion, and then we got a ton of marriage advice. :P

Sunday it snowed a lot! We woke up and it was still snowing and there was snow everywhere! The bishopric was soo awesome though, and decided to come and shovel some sisters in the ward out instead of doing PEC. So, they came and shoveled us out and it was soo great! Unfortunately our car was buried with the snow plow and we had to dig it out, and then still got stuck! :P Super funny though. Sister Siilata had never seen so much snow and her eyes were huge. Then we drove down main street and saw 8 ft snow banks and her eyes got even bigger!!!! :) It was pretty fun. they cut church down to only 2 hours and then told us to spend the day being Christians. That meant that they wanted us to shovel out our neighbors. So, that's what we did for the rest of the day. :)

So, my week was full of snow. :P I loved it, and it was seriously great and we had lots of little miracles just to show us that God is really aware of us. Seriously a great week. Well, I love you all so much, and I am so thankful for all that you do, and the letters and stuff. I love you, and hope that you have a great week! :) LOVES!

-Sister Malynne Erbe

I read this letter and responded.

Mom:  Dang, I have only read the first paragraph and I am in tears.  It seems like years ago since we went to the MTC to drop you off.  I miss you!!!

Malynne:  Ha ha, it feels like a long time ago, but like the shortest time ever too....

Awesome week in Hamilton, Montana

Hello family! I had one seriously awesome week! I love it here in Hamilton. We have had some awesome success here and I just love it.

On Monday we went and had a zone preparation day and played glow in the dark dodgeball. :) Oh man, soo fun! Then we came back and worked out the rest of the evening.

On Tuesday we spent a lot of the day tracting and we found a new investigator! So good, we were able to set up an appointment with him for Saturday and then went out and taught a few more people.

On Wednesday we went out and had appointments all that day and then that night went tracting. We couldn't see the house numbers and we made a rule to tract only the houses with a number 3 on them. So, I had to creep up to someones house and look at the house numbers. All of a sudden someone opened the door...most awkward 10 seconds of my life. And then I found out he hadn't even seen us creepin' he had just been coming outside to smoke! Oh man then it got even weirder....I don't know how to socialize as a normal person anymore! Well, then our investigator Scott drove up next to us really slowly. He was wearing a hood and totally freaked us out. Sister Siilata took off and left me there ha ha. Then we found out it was him and she came back and we were able to set up an appointment with him. It's good to know if anything bad happened my companion would be there to back me up! :P Soo funny!

Thursday I don't really remember super well....actually I don't remember what happened at all. I know we wet out and taught, so that's good. I just don't remember who we taught.
Friday we had our appointment with Scott. We went into their house and asked a bunch of questions and talked and got to know them better. Oh man, I love the Kings. Not only are they from lehi, but they are seriously the best! He is just so great, and he is eventually going to be baptized. :) I just love them both so much. His wife Nicole told us the other day that after we left he felt the spirit and had a desire to read the scriptures. It was so awesome, and I am just so stoked to be able to work with them. :)

Saturday we had a few appointments, but they all canceled. :( So we just spent the day visiting less actives. soo good! I just love the amazing down to earth people here.

Sunday we had all the normal things that we do. we had our dinner appointment early, and we had a corrolation meeting with our ward mission leader. Also, we tried a lot of people, but nobody would let us in because of the super bowl. Everyone would bring us in and give us food then send us away. :P Pretty funny!

Yep, sorry this email is short. I am just really cold right now and I am having a hard time typing. :P But, I love you all so much, and I hope that you have a great week! LOVES!
