Artists: Sister Erbe and Sister Jones

Don't be too impressed. But we love it :) And are proud :)

Pictures that Sister Jones and I took together of our Christmas place mats!

Christmas Week!!!

Alright well it was Christmas this week. Loads of fun getting to talk to my family and spend time doing other normal Christmasy things! :) I liked it. So, here is a run down of my week.

On Monday we left and went up to Kalispell to spend our preparation day with the other missionaries. I got to spend all day with Sister Owens who is from Lehi who I love! :) We had laods of fun talking about 'old times' in highschool and having Sister Jones keep yelling from the background "It's just soo weird!" Just so everyone knows. Sister Jones was trained by Sister Parr, and then Sister Owens finished her training. Then she went up to Great Falls and was companions with Sister Barkdull for 2 days while they were waiting for their companions and then Sister Todd for like 2 hours. So, I am companion from Lehi official #3, but #5 if you count them being their companions for a few days! :) Soo funny. So, we drove up to Kalispell and we went to Walmart and I got to make Christmas cards! Finally! :) We decided to just go out and grab dinner. Sister Jones wanted Panda express and I really wanted Bajio So, we went to Panda first and Sister Jones got food, and then we went to Bajio. When we got to Bajio there were abunch of members there who offered to pay for our foor (without knowing Sister Jones had food in the truck) and we said yes. Sister Jones looked at me like "Do I really have to?" And I got closer to her and I told her "Just order something and you can box it up and eat it later!" So she did. So, then we had 2 dinners from Bajio, and a panda express, and then we walked over to coldstone to get ice cream. Soo fun! We went back to the Sisters apartment and started digitalitizing our area book and we inhaled our food because we were starving.

On Tueday it was Christmas eve. We went to a zone district meeting that was the whole zone but put on by the district leaders not the zone leaders. They asked me to sing, and Sister Jones did a roleplay about teaching the atonement. We focused on the Savior and his life and different aspects of him and stuff. It was one of the best meetings I have ever been to. There was anawesome member who bought all of the missionaries giftcards to go to subway. He spent over $200 on all of us and it was soo nice! We went to subway and then headed up to the Shaws for the rest of the day. We played a bunch of games and just sat around and talked. We played the what if game and there were lots of questions about Ssiter Jones and I. One was "What if Sister Jones didn't have authority issues?" The answer was "AWKWARD!" SOOO funny. Another one was "What if Sister Erbe died laughing?" "Then sister Jones wouldn't be far behind." And another one was "What if Sister Jones and Sister Erbe could have hot showers?" the answer was "Then they would open up a day spa and invite all of the missionaries over for a party." It was really fun. A bunch of people went on a little hike and some of us stayed inside to stay warm. We got to have dinner with them, and it was steak. :) We all got to eat nothing but delicious steak. Okay just kidding there was other food too, but I just love steak. :) After dinner we cleaned up and we all went outside to sit by the bonfire that was made in the middle of the snow. (Don't ask me how they did it because I have trouble enough making a fire inside our dry little wood stove!) We sang Christmas hymns and then some out of the childrens hymnbook, and then we ended the night singing I believe in Christ. It was really awesome! If you have never heard just a bunch of missionaries sit around and sing hymns, someday you should go on a mission so you can, because it's awesome! We had to drive the Elders home and we had to go the long way because Elder Keith forgot something. So we didnt' get back until really late.

Christmas morning!!! :) We woke up and we did our studies. We sang Christmas hymns and we read the Christmas story and we watched Mr. Krugers Christmas. Then we got ready and went over to our branch presidents house to skype! :) I got to talk to my family! And take pictures with them. Well, over Skype. I also got to meet Sister Jones family. :) Then we went over to the Shears for Christmas dinner. We had everything normal. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy. And then Sister Jones got really tired and she took a nap :P It was awesome that they let her do that. We sat around and drank hot chocolate and we talked about all of the awesome Christmas memories that we have. It was fun. Then we got it approved to watch a Christmas movie. So, we got to watch White Christmas. I honestly dont' think that I have seen it all the way through ever...(It reminded me of Courtney because she would always sing that Sisters song from it :P And of course Makenna and Makayla because they are my sisters) Then we went home and we cleaned our apartment. Well our trailer, we claened it within an inch of its life! It was soo nice. I mean it wasn't really dirty we clean it every Monday. But we have never scrubbed it. Now it is really clean and I love it. Then we went to bed early...Merry Christmas to us!

The day after Christmas we went and we got to up to Thompson Falls. We have decided that this area is going to be split. I have the faith that it will happen, we just need to find people to teach. So, we started going through the potential investigator pool. We visited some less actives as well. We saw Al, and the Sawyers. Then we started on our potential list. We tried like 4 or 5 potentials and about 3 of them let us in. All of them told us no. But asked if we would come back.....? Not really sure if that means that someday they will join the church or if they are just interested in having spiritutal thoughts or what. So...whatever I guess. That was acrtually like Thursday Friday and Saturday.

Sunday we came back to give our talk in Plains. They were both really good. We talked about the atonement and having faith...and missionary work....and how the atonement applies and everyone can repent and do more missionary work. :) Basically called them all to repentance and it was cool. I love just saying things how they are and inviting people to come back to our Heavely Father. It makes me feel confident just knowing that I have God to back me up! :) That night we went over to the Bergers (Ber Jer). Sister Berger is a really awesome cook. She said that she made vinison....I thought it was a bird. I have never eaten deer before! It wasn't a bird....I felt really dumb.Anyway. We stayed over there and we taught the restoration to them. It was perfect because her husband is now trying to come back to the church, and she was pretty emotional. It was a really great lesson. She also told us a really awesome lady who cuts hair. :) So, we called her and she got us an appointment for today. Then, we tried a few potential investigators over here in Plains. We finally went over to Pat Englands and we saw her. Her mom was just put in the hospital, so she is going through her whole house cleaning now that her mom isn't there to tell her no. Her mom is 90 years old, and so we're not sure what's gonna happen. :( Then we went home for the night.

Then today came and I got my hair cut! :) it was a great day....I am so happy that my hair is cut now....life is good! Well, that was my Christmas week! I love you all! I am so glad that I got to talk to you and see a lot of people this week. :) LOVE YOU ALL BYE!

Snow in Plains, Montana

Me in the snow in Plains, Montana.

Looking forward to wearing normal clothes. Conversation with mom

Mom:  Malynne, I see that you are on line.  I am on my way home please stay there

Malynne:  Okay, I am looking at my blog!  I am still here! :)

Mom:  I just got home, I haven't even had time to read your letters.  Are you good?

Malynne:  I am great! :) I haven't sent out a long email yet, I have to write it still, but there are some pictures!

Mom:  Your dad and I looked at the pictures.  They will be fun to put in your blog and to put on Facebook.  Do you like your blog?  I have still got to do a few months.  I think I am missing September and October or something like that and I have an email I sent to you about girls weekend and your response.....Can't put that up in case someone reads it.

Malynne:  Oh you better put that one up!!!! :P I will get on and put it up myself...Ha ha. I like those pictures too! Everyone who saw the pictures that I took on Christmas of our family asked "Were you adopted?" We don't look related in thoe pictures at all. Sister Jones looks more related to all of you! :P

Mom:  So, I am feeling a little liberated.  I have been dejunking!  Cleaned out the closet in the office and guess what dad did?  He parted with an entire box of cables, RAM, computer parts, an old computer, your old computer, Makenna's old computer.....lots and lots.  My car was filled!  Trunk FULL and entire back seat FULL.  In the front was the box of computer stuff that we took somewhere to be recycled.  It felt awesome to see it all go away!  I got rid of almost if not all of the halloween costumes, old sewing patterns, Ugly holiday decorations that we never put up (I kept the cute ones)....all your clothes in your closet....a bunch of scrapbooking stuff, etc.  (not really just wanted to see if you were paying attention.  All of your clothes are still in your or Makenna's closet).

Malynne:  Yeah what the heck I was ready to be so mad at you! I really am looking forward to just wearing normal clothes again. I love being a missionary, but I don't love looking like one. I went and got a hait cut today and Sister Jones and I are getting our nails done and someday I am going to get a pedicure so that I can just not have disgusting things that just come with being a missionary...I hadn't had a hair cut since July and it was bad. She cut off a lot of the straight pieces and relayered it so it looks better. :) I feel loads better. Anyway...please don't get rid of my clothes I will do that by myself when I get home.

Mom:  That sounds like a plan.  I will let you decide what to get rid of.  I need to be going.  We are heading to Grandma Alma's to pick up Makayla and Connor.  They spent the last two nights at Eric's house and are ready to come home.  I can still text you, it will be from the car.  We are waiting for your big letter.

Malynne:  Sorry, I am working on it. :P

Lori Bosworth Jones (Sister Jones' mom) meets the Erbes.

On Saturday, December 28th, I got an email from Lori Bosworth Jones.  She asked if we were busy.  Since she lives in Loomis California I found this an odd question.  I emailed her back and found out she was in town only a few miles away.  We made arrangements to meet and we went to her favorite place, Culvers.  We had a nice chat and learned why Malynne likes her daughter, Julie Jones, so much.  Easy people to like and get along with.

Lost connection.

Christmas was awesome!  We got to talk to Malynne for 3.5 hours.  We were late to our family event and Grandma and Grandpa Schraders, but that is OK.  We were talking to our Schmoo!  About 2 hours into our Skype we lost connection.  Here is the little conversation:

Mom:  Can you call us back?

Malynne:  Hey mom, you can't email me on this email, just use my regular one! love you!!  Calling back as soon as I can.

Visiting Sister Owens in Kalispell

Sister Jones was trained by Sister Parr, and Sister Owens, she was companions with Sister Barkdull, and one more.  Now she is companions to Malynne.  This makes Sister Jones an honarary Lehite!  All of her companions have been from Lehi.

For a P Day they went to spend time with favorite missionaries in Kalispell....Sister Owens!

Getting ready to Skype for Christmas

Malynne and Sister Jones had to make sure their Ipads worked for Skyping.  They had some fun takings some dorky pictures.

"I am 20! Oh my gosh!"

Well. My first official email being 20 years old. I am 20. Oh my gosh I am 20!!!!!! I am freaking out! But, it was a good birthday and I was very happy! :)

So Monday we went out and visited a less active family and they are soo sweet I love them so much. :) They made me happy and they crack me up. I hope that we can help them in some way. :) Their names are the Shears.

Tuesday we ran around like crazy people doing service. First we went to Pat Englands and we made cookies, then we went over to the Shears to help make cookies. Then we had to run to our dinner, and then we had a relief society cookie activity. We played what it, and there were soo many questions about the missionaries. We laughed 'til we cried and loved every minute of it. :)

Wednesday was a crazy day! We went and we helped do service with an active member. She needed help decorating her tree because she had no motivation and her teenagers wouldn't :P She is so funny! :) We went and did that and she fed us lunch. We went out and we saw Dot who used to be a member but had her records removed. So, I am not super sure exactly what she is. :P She loves visits from missionaries though. We went visited with Carol Christensen afterwards. Oh my goodness she is so prepared! She is trying to study about Jesus Christ, but she just doesn't know what she believes. She doesn't really think that she wants a change, but she is ready for one and I can feel it. God has definitely been preparing her, and i know that she is one of the most important reasons that I am here in this area! :) I love her so much. We showed her a cute little Christmas video and it just talked to her. But then we had to run because we had dinner and then we had Bills interview. So, we ran to dinner and we just talked about Christmas and then we went to the church. The Elders got there and Elder Beck went and met with Bill. :) He told us that it was such a great interview, and Bill was so excited to get baptized! Then, that night we drove up to Bigfork and we spent the night with a member family.

The next morning we got up at 3 and we got ready. The Elders came and picked us up at 4 and we drove up to the little brown church to meet the big 15 passenger van. That van drove us down to Helena for the Christmas zone conference with the west side of the mission. I got to see soo many of my favorite people there! :) Sister Holbrook, Sister Parr, Sister Barkdull, Sister Todd, Sister Davis, Elder White, and Elder Wyatt, Elder Schlenker, And President and Sister Mecham! :) It was soo good. Best part of the whole day was the letters with the testimonies written on them of my family. I bawled like a baby...fortunately I wasn't the only one. It was so awesome and pretty emotional, but I loved it. It ended at 5 and we headed straight back to Bigfork. We rode with the Polson Elders and they drove us all the way home. We got home around 11 and finally went to bed at about 11:30 after planning and getting ready. We were both exhausted!

Friday morning came and we were both so tired! We got up and tried to make it through studies, but we both weren't incredibly functional. The primary president called and asked us if we would color some place mats for the Christmas party because her primary kids weren't able to finish it. So, that's what we did! :) We colored and colored and colored! It was really fun, and we were cracking each other up! It was way fun. That's actually what we did most of the day. We went and helped wrap presents a little bit, and then we went to dinner at a restauraunt called Heathers for one of the Sisters 75th birthday. It was really fun, and we had a good time. After the birthday party we got to go and watch a short little Christmas play that one of the members was putting on in the alliance church. We thought it would be a good opportunity to go and show support and get our faces out there. We got to talk to quite a few people and so it was good. Afterwards we went to the Branch Presidents house to get the programs for Bills baptism made. We went over there, and his wife was stressing. So, one of us made the program while the other wrapped presents. Then we got all the presents wrapped and then we decorated the tree. :) Then we had to go home, so we promised to come and shovel their walks in the morning and then to help them finish up what they needed to.

Saturday morning we woke up and we went and shoveled walks for 4 hours. It was crazy! There was lots to do. There was an old man and we were shoveling his drive way, and he came out and kind of got mad. He told us that he was perfectly capable to doing it on his own and he didn't need our help. Then he told us that he was "Hardshell baptist and a born again Christian." And then he said "You know, you girls should really explore this avenue and learn about Jesus Christ. I feel that it would be much better for you." We took it in stride and walked away until we got to the truck. Then we cracked up laughing! :) Soo funny! We drove back over to the Egberts and we helped them clean up their house and get ready for Christmas a little more. Then we went home to get ready for the baptism. :) Bills baptism was at noon and it was so amazing! He was baptized and he just stood there in the water motionless for a minute. Then he started breathing really hard and cried a little bit. He felt clean, and he was just soakin' it in! So awesome and powerful! After the baptism we went home and we did our studies in between the baptism and the ward Christmas dinner party. Then we went to the party. :) It was soo good, and there was a really awesome turnout! Lots of good food, and company. I loved it! After the party we went to visit with Sister Miller, and we just shared a quick message because we had to go home.

Sunday morning I woke up, looked at Sister Jones and said "I'm 20." Then she said "Oh my gosh you have a box to open!" :) So awesome! I gotta wear a new sweater to church! :D soo exciting! Also, Bill was confirmed for my birthday. It was a good blessing, and he was excited about it also! He didn't know that he was going to get a blessing and that made him happy. After church, we had a lesson with Bill, and it was great..again! :) He loves the gospel, and it makes me so happy! Then, we went and visited a few members and taught a few lessons and we went home to go to bed. :) It was a really great week.

I am so thankful for Christmas! It is such a special time of year and I am so thankful for your testimonies and everything that you do for me. I am just so thankful for my Savior, and that I have this chance to talk and teach about him in the greatest mission in the world, the Billings Montana mission! :) I love it so much! I pray that you will make Him the center of your Christmas and that you will strive to live worthy of his spirit. It truly is the only thing that makes you happy! I LOVE YOU ALL SOO MUCH! I can't wait to talk with you on Wednesday! LOVES!

Yes, it is cold in Plains, Montana.

"Birthday Christmas.....it is all the same to me." Conversation with mom.

Dear Malynne,
Since we get to talk to you on Christmas I don't want to write to you.  I want to have stuff to tell you.  Dad set up skype....it is under Jacinda Erbe.  What time?  We are all looking forward to talking to you!
Love,
MOM

Malynne:  um early at like 10 :)

Mom:  Are you on right now?

Malynne:  Yep :)

Mom:  Are you writing a big letter?  Did you check to see if you can find my account for skype?  I set it up....and did it wrong.  So yesterday dad did it and I hope it is all good.

Malynne:  I haven't checked, my internet got all screwy and so I haven't even made my account yet. I will look for it. I am writing a big letter..I am also twenty.
I will have to check later when I am on my ipad and I have wifi

Mom:  Have you enjoyed your 12 days of Christmas?  What was your favorite day?

Malynne:  um....day 9! :) Sister Jones agrees...soo many compliments! Even from Montanans not just missionaries! Sister Jones has worn hers everyday! I wore mine and then switched to another necklace for church and stuff :P  (We sent a Montana necklace to them both).
I loved the sweater! :) Honestly best present was the polka dot red sweater that I wore yesterday and am going to wear again today...:)
The necklaces and earrings were awesome too! :)
I wore the temple necklace yesterday to church. :) Then someone asked "Have you ever been to the timpanogas temple?" and I said "actually I'm wearing it!"

Mom:  UMMMM.....weren't some of those CHRISTMAS Presents?

Malynne:  Mom...my birthday is 3 days before Christmas....I don't know the difference between birthday and Christmas wrapping paper It's always just been the same, and yes I did see the box, I haven't opened it.

Mom:  Well when they are wrapped COMPLETELY different you should know.  I hope you do not feel left out at Christmas.  You were suppose to get to open stuff on Christmas also.  Did you like the little extras I sent?  The Sacrament book?  The puzzles?  The BOM story book?  You can give them away if you want to. How about Debbies box.  Did you get that one?  How about Grandmas box?

Malynne:  I got your box, no I won't feel left out on Christmas because all I wanted was to be able to talk to you!!! :) And so I will, so life is good. I still have the 12 days of Christmas one and the one that you want to open with me over skype. ;) I loved all of the little extras, and I gave Sister Jones one of the BOM story book things. She loves it too! I got Debbie's box today, and I am waiting for Grandmas still. :)
Hey, did you already open your Christmas presents too? Why are you getting on my case? Dad already told me his bolo tie was broken!

Mom:  RIGHT NOW I am wearing my pine cone earrings.  I LOVE them.  I wore them yesterday to church and they did not match my outfit at all.  Today they match.  We opened ours because you said in your letter that you wanted us to wear them to church on Sunday.  You did not say which Sunday.  I am not mad that you opened everything, just glad that you like what you got.  I hope you had a wonderful birthbad.  Love you.

Malynne:  Love you too! :) I am glad that you like them! What did everyone else think? :)

Mom:  Girls loved them.  Boys hated theirs.  Connor said, "I look like a dork".  Dad was not going to wear his to church because he was singing in the choir.  You can give them both a bad time on Wednesday.  So you think you will be calling at about 10am?  We might not be up!

Malynne:  Ha ha :P Oh, come on they are what all the fashionable guys in Montana wear! :) Oh, you better be up by 10! I intend to spend a lot of time talking to you! :)

Mom:  Schmoo, can you tell me who the lehi girls are in the order of the way they are standing?  Please identify any people that you send pictures of.

Malynne:  I am running out of time, you'll have to wait until next week. Sister Todd is on the left, Sister Parr is on the right. Sister Barkdull you know who she is, and Sister Owens is the other one you can't identify! :)

Mom:  I posted the picture of you with your icicle hair on Facebook.  People are already saying how much they love you and miss you and commenting on how good/happy you look.  I love you.  I will talk to you on Wednesday.

Malynne:  Hey! we got to go and drive to Kalispell... my companion is kind of freaking out. She's obsessed with missionaries. But I love her.

Love you!
